Inn at Perry Cabin Wedding: Shafer and Joseph

Scroll to the end, and you'll know what makes a photographer thankful: dancing on tables. Sure, a beautiful couple, fantastic wedding details, a good dip on the dance floor (or during the ceremony), friends that dance, a good band--I'm also grateful for these things as a photographer. But I love it when the dance floor gets three-dimensional. Can you blame me?

That said, I remember in the first minute after my arrival at the Inn, looking at my assistant and saying, "This is going to be great." Indeed it was. I just had to keep up, being on the Shafer and JJ team. The wedding theme was built around travel, since the couple has spent so much of their relationship geographically challenged. But Shafer and JJ made it an allegory for friendship, full of excitement, learning, and finding "home" among those you love.

The wedding was right on the water, and I was so happy to capture the curve of guests surrounding the couple. The balloons, representing loved ones who couldn't be there, was a beautiful touch. They caught briefly on a sailboat's lines before drifting way off into the sky. Back on earth, Shafer and JJ exchanged vows and triumphantly paraded back down the aisle. (With a kiss at the end! Thanks, guys!)

The dancing was for real! I definitely saw that Shafer inherited a party-ethic from her mom. Shafer and JJ couldn't look anything but awesome on the dance floor. And at the tables, people were chatting with just as much energy.

All in all, it was a privilege to be there. Thank you, Shafer and JJ. May your lives be full of travel, but always feel at home.
