DC Hotel Monaco Wedding: Alexis and Benjamin

Alexis and Benjamin got married on what felt like the hottest day of the year, but it was no sweat. I met them at their engagement session, which was a good way to get to know the quiet sweetness that they exude toward each other, one which I enjoyed photographing. While I think that feeling is visible in the first look images, one of my favorite photos, however, came from Elisha, the second photographer that evening: it's the one with them huddled underneath the chuppa. Both images caught a connection between these two that is intimate and strong.

We made some portraits at the National Portrait Gallery, very much my favorite museum in DC right now. When we were in that wonderfully lit courtyard, Alexis tipped her head toward Benjamin that perfectly communicated this moment for me. Coming back, I really wanted an image that showed off her dress, and by luck found just the mirror at the Monaco.
