Eye shadow Primer
Eye shadow primer should serve two purposes.  The first is to even out the eyelid color so your eye shadow looks true to color.  Most women have some sort of colored undertone on their eyelids (blue, red, yellow or brown).  This undertone affects the color of your eye shadow.  By neutralizing your eyelids with a primer, your eye shadow will look like the color you thought you were buying in the first place.
Eye shadow primer can also aid in long-lasting eye makeup.  Some primers do a much better job than others.  A primer will definitely help with this but some eye shapes are just more prone to creasing.  When I use eye shadow primer, my eye makeup stays put all day but even with the same primer someone else might not have the same result.  My tried and true eye shadow primer is Urban Decay Eye shadow Primer Potionin the color Eden.
