Eastern Market Wedding: Allison + David
It's getting the point in my career when the logistics of any particular wedding don't seem as daunting, and I can relegate many details to habit. More and more, it's the people that occupy most of my mental energy. Each couple has become more alive, more interesting, more intimate in my memory. This certainly applies to Allison and David, whose expectant nervousness and excitement captivated me.
The first image, below, is David getting ready. His eyes point inward and his mind is somewhere else--at the wedding! Allison breaking out the champagne seemed to me something that she wanted to do (no delegating that task!), and it represented to me her way of meeting her big step into marriage. But most of the images tell a story of a couple who display an open humor with each other and their loved ones. On Allison's part, from getting her dress on to finding an alternate way of saying hello during the first look to her first dance with her husband--it was easy to see the joyfulness she has. For David, I loved the moments when he was talking with his friends or family. Also, a special moment that I saw was the look David gave Allison during the first dance. It seemed to say, "This is a big step, and I'm happy for it."
Above all, my favorite image of David and Allison was before the wedding, in the center of the ceremony space when the last sun beamed in through the windows. A bit of quiet before the party, but with the party already there.
