New Wedding Venue: Aix La Chapelle Farm in Poolesville, Maryland

Dairy Barn capacity: 200, Space to add a tent, plus a smaller barn for intimate gatherings. 

Over 200 years old, the Aix La Chapelle farm breathes longevity, but it's so beautiful, it feels like Spring even in the middle of winter. It's like walking around in a movie, but with all five senses playing at once. 

From a photographer's standpoint, stunning backdrops lay in plain sight at just every corner. The dairy barn, especially, invites a good party. I can just imagine a crowd dancing there all night, with space for a small rest in between sets. The Bank Barn surrounds a slightly smaller space, and I would recommend it for those weddings where you need just the right amount of space to make people feel together, but not too much space, which can sometimes spread out a party too thinly. Either barn can house a ceremony if the weather turns dark. If the weather looks sunny, a ceremony on the lawn couldn't be more picturesque. One might have to bring his or her own fiddler. 

It's difficult to find places like Aix La Chapelle that offer both proximity to Baltimore and DC, and all of the amenities for a great celebration. People forget that communities often gathered in spaces like these regularly a hundred years ago for a reason. What made them functional places to work, also leant to them the same facility to celebrate. There's nothing better than taking a few minutes from a wonderful evening to take a stroll with your loved one, under stars that you might not have seen in years of city living. It's enough to remind you how old love is, and how new it is every time.
