Documentary Portrait Photography - Documentary Sessions
Documentary Portrait Sessions: Real families, organically captured, in a free-range setting.
Great documentary photography tells a story about the personalities of the people in the photographs and seeks out an emotional reaction from the viewer. There is so much to tell in a documentary photo - the where, what, who when and how. We believe this all comes out when you give us the opportunity to photograph you in your real life. The moments only exist truly when you are living it. We can't pose these things. They happen in the real world, in real time and that's our favorite way to capture you.
We'll find a particular time of day that works best - maybe a Saturday morning with pancakes and a trip to the park - or a bedtime routine with bath time and snuggles with a book. Maybe you gather around your table for Sunday night dinner? We'll find a time and then let you live your life naturally while we photograph it. We'll be looking for real moments, and finding them when you least expect it. Check out a few of the images below and this slideshow from a recent documentary shoot to get a feel for the kind of images we make during these shoots.
